Amazon has launched its first shipments of its recently announced Fire TV Stick dongle, but the early birds who jumped first to get the $39 device are the lucky ones. Amazon's listing of the Fire TV Stick shows they won't get anymore in stock until at least January 15.

Amazon's answer to HDMI dongle competitors like the Chromecast and the Roku Stick has been a bigger sales hit than the company expected. Dave Limp, the Senior Vice President, Amazon Devices, stated, "Fire TV Stick has been our most successful device launch ever. We built a ton of these, but customer demand still outpaced our supply. We're excited by the overwhelming customer response and the team is working hard to build more as quickly as possible."

Amazon has also just launched its Fire TV Remote app in the Google Play Store to help users navigate through the interface of both the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick via a smartphone. Do you think the Fire TV Stick will be worth the two month wait if you order it now?
