Plenty of rumors swirling around about a new fourth generation Apple TV being revealed at the Apple press event on September 9th. While most are excited about a new iPhone being announced, the signs point to a big announcement for a new Apple TV that will likely be going on sale in October.

The new Apple TV is rumored to be priced between $149 and $199 and will be powered by the A8 chipset from Apple. That is a 3X price increase over the 3rd Generation Apple TV, but with cord-cutting becoming more and more popular, Apple seems to want to pursue cable subscription alternatives aggressively. Apple is rumored to have secured arrangements with major networks to offer subscription services to their content.

There is also a new remote control rumoured that will feature a built-in touchpad and motion control similar to a Wii remote. A redone user interface update is also rumoured to be coming.
