Asus smartwatch may be coming this year

According to Asustek Computer Inc. Chairman Jonney Shih, the company might very well be looking to release a smartwatch in 2014 as their first entry into the wearables space. During their year-end party, Shih hinted at a new device and noted that it should be available later this year. No details or pricing were mentioned so it's hard to say what, if anything, Asus has in the works.

"There are actually many challenges in this area, and I don't think products that lack special features will be useful. We'll try to replace your watch by all means"

We'll add this one to the growing list of rumored devices and be sure to keep an eye out for any more developments.

Good. Asus' build quality has always been top notch. I have no doubt that they'd put together something simple and slick. I'm curious about how they'd handle the software, though, since they've always stuck so close to stock Android with their phones, and they won't really have a template to work from when it comes to watches.

Being ASUS I expect the watch to transform onto something completely different.
