It appears that Best Buy is getting into the smart home business with the Peq (pronounced "peek") system. A number of videos have been sitting on the Peq YouTube channel detailing the system. Like most home automation systems, Peq lets you control various elements of your home no matter where you are. It looks like Peq will include a subscription of $9.99 per month, according to Zatz Not Funny:

Pronounced "peek", we believe this newcomer is Best Buy's answer to Lowe's Iris and Staples Connect – a home automation solution we've been tracking since January. While sources originally indicated we'd see both a fee-free tier and subscription options, Peq marketing materials refer only to a monthly fee… which immediately puts it at a retail disadvantage compared to Staples, Wink, and Smartthings.

What do you think of Peq? Let us know below in the comments.

I'm not paying a month fee for something like this.

I'm also a Windows Phone user so it looks like Insteon will be getting my business later this year.
