This time next week we'll be just about done with all of coverage from the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It will be a hectic week (as always) and with the addition of our CES Live show this year there will be no shortage of coverage.
If you've never been to CES before it truly is an experience. In addition to miles of walking and an almost Frogger-like pursuit to avoid the masses of rolling suitcases, there is plenty of new amazing tech to be had everywhere you look.
This year will be an especially big one for wearable tech, and that means we'll see a slew of new devices — smartwatches included. There will be all kinds of fitness trackers, heart rate monitors and Google Glassness, but what we're looking for is all of the latest and greatest smartwatches that are soon to land on wrists all over the globe. We've heard plenty of rumors already about some new offerings from LG, ZTE, Sony, Samsung and others. And we know for sure there will be new devices from Archos, Martian, ConnecteDevices (the folks behind the Cookoo) and others. Even Pebble has "something special" in store for Monday though we're not quite sure what that could be.
Even though companies like Sony and Samsung have fairly new devices already on the market that are only a few months old, it looks like they may already be releasing updated versions at CES or shortly thereafter. Samsung's Galaxy Gear is already one of the most popular and well known smartwatches by a long shot, so keeping up the buzz with a new device (or even their rumored fitness tracker) is a no-brainer.
Pebble has already scheduled a live stream for Monday to announce something new — software or hardware we don't yet know. Martian will be dropping some new devices and features to their already extensive lineup as well. HOT, Kreyos, Neptune Pine and MetaWatch will all be in attendance. Of course there will also certainly be offerings from plenty of smaller companies at the show too.
So it's safe to say that CES 2014 will be a busy one for wearables and smartwatches. We're definitely excited to take it all in and hope to come out with news of more than a few new devices to start off 2014. You can follow along with all of our ongoing CES coverage from our easy-access hub and if there's anything in particular you'd like to see out — drop a comment and let us know!
