A new report claims that Oculus VR will launch the long awaited consumer version of its Oculus Rift virtual reality headset in the summer of 2015, but that it will be a limited beta launch much like the current Google Glass rollout.
TechRadar, which uses unnamed sources as the basis for its report, claims Oculus VR had planned for the launch to be much earlier, in April 2015, but apparently the company decided to push back the launch until the summertime. The price for the headset could be between $200 and $400.
Oculus, which was acquired by Facebook earlier this year, has already released two versions of the Oculus Rift headset, but they have been made and shipped specifically for software and game developers. Officially, Oculus VR would not comment on this report. What do you think of a limited summer 2015 launch of the consumer version of the Oculus Rift?
