DJI announced that they will now have two new camera systems capable of shooting some extremely high-quality 4K video and ready to fly on the DJI Inspire. The X5 and X5R Inspire 1 add-on will offer a micro four-thirds sensor with interchangeable lenses on a gimbal that will clip onto the Inspire's camera mount. The camera will shoot at 16-megapixels and will increase dynamic range with 12.8 stops total. There will be four different lenses to choose from at launch. Two are 15mm - f/1.7 lenses, there is a 12mm f/2.0 lens and an 18mm f/1.8 lens. The top of the line X5R will offer RAW video to an SSD or microSD card at a bitrate up to 2.4Gbps.
The Zenmuse X5 add-on is priced at $2199, or $4499 with the included Inspire 1 Quadcopter and a 15mm lens ready to fly out of the box. The X5R does not appear be on sale on their website yet.
