Garmin Approach S2
The Garmin Approach S2 is a sleek and stylish GPS watch built for golf. Packed with tons of great features, it’s a solid choice for most golfers, from recreational all the way up to the professional ranks.
To start, the Approach S2 has enough room to store course data for over 30,000 courses. Think about that for a minute. 30,000 courses. That’s a lot of golf. Kind of comforting to know that wherever you may travel, the S2 probably has the course in its database, ready to hook you up with yardages and sound advice.
Another cool feature of the S2 is its ability to measure dogleg distances. When you’re unsure how far it is to the dogleg, no worries. The S2 tells you exactly how far it is to the corner, allowing you to hit your shot with confidence, knowing you won’t end up short, or go long into the hazard on the other side.
Besides the obvious benefits of knowing the distance to the front, middle, and back of the green, the S2 also allows you to carry out some basic functions. Of course, you can use it as an odometer like many other golf watches… But you can also use it to keep track of your score, or for you and a playing partner. When you’re done your round you can even save, download and print out the scores for later reference.
Finally, the Approach S2 is priced to sell. It’s cheaper than the more powerful S3, and all of the extra features you get in comparison to the S1 make it well worth the spend. While there’s no touchscreen interface, and ‘green view’ is lacking (the S3 boasts this feature that details the layout and distances to the green on your approach shots) most golfers will be just fine and dandy using old-school buttons to navigate and use the S2.
