Google shows off future of Android across many devices in new video

As part of its Google I/O 2014 conference, the company has released a new video that shows how Android will soon find itself on many devices, including televisions, smartwatches and cars in addition to smartphones and tablets.

The two minute video shows a man waking up in his home and starting the day with a glance at his Android smartphone to check the weather. He then gets in a quick run outside with his dog, wearing a Android Wear smartwatch. After he gets home, he uses his Android tablet to look up a recipe.

Then he and his dog get into his car, which has an Android OS-based dashboard. He arrives at a park to attend a dog show and films his pet going through an obstacle course with his Android smartphone. Finally, that footage of the dog show is projected on a big screen Android TV at the end of the clip.

Google clearly is trying to show that Android is being developed as more than an operating system for smartphones and can be used as the basis for all sorts of electronic devices.

Stay tuned as our coverage of Google I/O 2014 will continue today and all this week.
