Going along with the announcement of the new Desire Eye, HTC has also revealed a new camera dubbed the HTC Re Camera. The handheld device is a 16-megapixel camera with a Sony DSC sensor & 146-degree field of view. The Re camera tethers to an Android or iPhone device or can serve as a standalone shooter.
The Re camera is the first venture outside mobile devices for HTC, but it won't be the last. While the Re camera won't be replacing your GoPro anytime soon, it will make for a great portable device for weekend shooters. It will allow you to snap photos, or take standard video, slow motion, or time-lapse. The Re camera comes in at $199 to start, so it's not the cheapest camera of its kind either. It will be available later this month from HTC and Best Buy, with other outlets like Amazon and AT&T to follow.

What do you think of the Re? Is it something you'd use, or are there better options out there?
