An HTC smartwatch could be available by the end of the year

HTC may very well have a smartwatch available by the end of 2014, according to Chairwoman Cher Wang. We're not sure just what's in store for the device, but it appears that they're hard at work ironing out the kinks for their wearable device. CEO Peter Chou says it's "critical" for HTC to get into the wearables space, but it's unclear for now just what HTC has on the horizon.

“Many years ago we started looking at smartwatches and wearables, but we believed that we really have to solve the battery problems and the LCD light problems, Chairman Cher Wang said. “These are customer-centric problems.”

We'll keep this one on the rumor track for now and see what else turns up. HTC may be able to bring an awesome wearable device to the table, so we're definitely excited to see what they come up with. Let's just hope it works with more than just their own devices.

This is good news! Will be interested in seeing what theirs is like as they usually have very good build quality.

I used HTC products since the days of SX56 (Windows Phone SIEMENS branded) up until HTC surround and then moved on to Nokia Windows Phones. Would definitely give this a buy when it comes out.

I wouldn't mind going back to HTC I wanted the One Max but the specs wasn't there. A smartwatch maybe my gateway back to the company

It sounds like they're going to have quite the device. They've solve battery and LCD problems?! Who knows what that means, but dang, I want to see what it means! MWC announcement, anyone? Hopefully!

They said they are striving to solve the battery problem but they didn't explicitly say that they solved the problem.
