Pebble gets happy on your wrist with latest firmware

New Domo watchface

Pebble has updated its firmware for both the regular Pebble and the newer Pebble Steel to version 2.5. Among the support features of the new update is the ability for Pebble to display emoji, so now rather than having little, square, white boxes appear when someone uses a happy face in a text message, your wrist will be smiling back at you!

Other features include iOS 8 compatibility, which supports actionable notifications and allows users to dismiss notifications from their wrists, along with enabling the compass to work.

There's also a new DOMO watchface as well.

I wish they would 'bake in' a stock set of canned responses for SMS, so you don't have to scroll through to find and open your third party ap!

The compass is my favorite part of the update. It works very smoothly. Way better than the compass on my Nexus 5 that is usually 90° off.

I just last night started developing a few basic watch faces for Pebble. I searched for a CrackBerry WatchFace and couldn't find anything. So I made one, registered and submitted. It's not really hard to do at all. Was a lot of fun!
