The Pebble Time smartwatch has surpassed the original Pebble to become the second-most-funded project on Kickstarter. As of this writing, the Pebble Time has raised $10,481,240 with 29 days left to go. The original Pebble raised a grand total of $10,266,845 with its Kickstarter in 2012, though that was after a full 31-day campaign.
The Pebble Time was unveiled earlier this week at the beginning of the campaign. It features a color e-paper display, a stainless steel bezel, and the same 5- to 7-day battery life of the Pebble and Pebble Steel. The watch also features a revamped operating system, expected to come to the older Pebble models at some point in 2015.
The demand for the Pebble Time on Kickstarter saw Pebble increase the number of slots at the $179 pledge tier to 30,000. They have since added a second $179 tier, and those backers can expect to see their Pebble Time ship in June. The Pebble Time will have a regular retail price of $199.
