Philips Android-powered TVs will support Spotify Connect for the beats to flow

TP Vision has announced ahead of the upcoming IFA consumer electronics trade show that its range of Android-powered Philips televisions will come with Spotify Connect support out of the box. Claiming to be the first manufacturer to bring the music streaming service to Smart TVs, Philips aims to enable consumers to play music wirelessly from their connected tablets and smartphones through their TV set.

With a Spotify premium account, it will be possible to enjoy streamed music on compatible Philips smart televisions from September. Streaming continues in the background even when the user is performing other tasks, like taking a call on a smartphone. A neat trick is how the service will still stream data to the TV even if the connected tablet or mobile phone leaves Wi-Fi range. It's noted that all Philips TVs with Android installed will sport Spotify Connect.

We'll keep an eye out on Philips TVs at IFA in Berlin when the show kicks off, so remain tuned to our feeds.
