Philips has announced the Hue wireless dimming kit, a portable battery-operated dimmer switch that allows you to control the brightness of your Hue bulbs wirelessly. The wireless dimming kit, which will be available in stores from September for $39.99, features a dimmer switch as well as a Hue white light bulb. You can mount the switch into a wall socket through the bundled base plate, or remove the switch from its housing to use a remote control.
The dimmer switch works with all other Hue-compatible products, with the ability to connect to 10 Hue white light bulbs simultaneously. Philips mentions that the switch has been designed to "change the brightness of the Philips Hue white bulb with absolutely no flicker and perfect dimming until it is off." The switch itself comes with four buttons — On/Off, Dim up/down, is rated for 50,000 clicks and has a range of 12 to 30 meters.
Philips will commence sales of the Hue wireless dimming kit in North America in the month of September. As previously mentioned, the kit will cost $39.99, and additional Hue white light bulbs will set you back to the tune of $19.99 each.
