One of the big downsides for the Galaxy Gear was that there were limited applications and not just anyone could create an app for it. With new devices comes new change though, as Samsung has released an SDK for the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit devices. The SDK allows for developers to create apps that will run on both the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, but for the Gear Fit there is an emulator and the ability to control the device through an app.

Hopefully this means we'll see some great third-party apps from developers and a more robust ecosystem than on the Galaxy Gear. If you're looking to get in on the fun or just want to know what it's all about, hit up the link below for more.

Anyone else notice that "Dialler" is spelled wrong? Should be "Dialer". Hope it's not a sign of things to come!

I hope they will actually release a public Gear SDK. Despite all the media news and Developer Day today it has not yet become available as downloadable for third parties.

Looks like original galaxy gear users are entitled to the usual "you can shove it up" treatment, but not more. I know this area is developing super-quickly, but leaving gear users out in the cold after just a few months must be utterly disappointing for them.

Since the old gear will be updated to run tizen I wonder will this mean the new developer friendly move will bring new life to the gear... This is a move in the right direction but I still think open development AND compatibility with more devices is the key
