The world's leading phone-maker is now shifting its focus from mobile to the home. Samsung Electronics is shuffling 500 software engineers out of its mobile division to help with other businesses as Samsung is changing its focus from the well established Galaxy brand to the emerging smart and connected home market.
Samsung said it will be turning its attention "to enhance our competitive edge in the Internet of Things (IoT) industry and increase synergies for the Tizen platform."
It's unclear at this point what this means for Sasmung's Tizen efforts on smartphones. The company has been a strong supporter of the open-sourced Android rival, but so far has not launched a smartphone running Tizen. Samsung does have a number of smartwatches and smart cameras on the market today powered by Tizen.
What do you think of Samsung's endeavors to bring Tizen into the home?
