The smallest of the Sonos line of speakers, the Play:1 was introduced in October of 2013. It features two integrated speakers and a single ethernet port. Two Play:1 units can be used to form a stereo pair, or as part of a larger surround system.
The unit has three top buttons — play/pause & volume up/down. The top also holds an LED indicator that shows power and connection status. On the bottom of the Play:1 sits the power connection for the included power cable. On the back is an ethernet port for hardline connection as well as a speaker mount connection. The Play:1 is the smallest Sonos speaker, making it great for tight locations and small spaces. It doesn't carry as much bass as the Play:3 or Play:5, but still puts out some amazing sound.
The Sonos system and Play:1 can be controlled from a smartphone or computer using the free Sonos Controller apps. You can stream music from various internet services as well as iTunes or your personal media library.
The Play:1 sells for $199.
