Carrera classic

TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver revealed in an interview with Switzerland's Le Matin Dimanche that the Carrera Connected, its first smartwatch, will be unveiled in New York on November 9. The smartwatch will retail for $1,500, and will be available for sale in Europe starting November 12.

While the Carrera Connected does not offer activity-tracking features that are commonly found in other smartwatches, it runs Android Wear and gives users the ability to customize the watch face. The watch itself is constructed out of titanium, with the option to choose between six brightly-colored wristbands.

From Biver:

Our watch will have almost the same functions as an Apple Watch, but I don't want to divulge too much.

The Carrera Connected is an exclusive, luxury watch.

We are not Apple. We are a watch brand. I forbid my colleagues to say Apple is our competitor.

TAG Heuer will have 1,000 units of the Carrera Connected up for sale in New York, and Biver has reiterated that the brand isn't interested in selling hundreds of millions of units, instead positioning the watch as a luxury item aimed at high-end clientele.
