Toshiba is trying its hand at fitness trackers with its new WERAM1100 activity band. The band will track steps, calories burned, and sleep patterns, and Toshiba claims that the device will have a battery life of two weeks.

The WERAM1100 connects to your smartphone with Bluetooth, where you can view your data in graphs. You can use the app to log what you choose, such as what time you eat breakfast and how many calories you've consumed. The band comes in four colors: black, blue-green, light gray, and pink. Bands will be sold separately, so you can change the color according to your personal preference on a given day, popping the actual tracker out of one band and into another.

It appears that the WERAM1100 will release only in Japan for now, with customers there able to pre-order the device now. Shipping is expected to begin on August 20.

What do you think of Toshiba's take on the fitness band, and do you want one? Let us know below in the comments.

Graphs sound useful and I quite like the colours. Will wait and see if it delivers that battery life. I'm sure it will make it's way over here eventually...
