As a part of today's Google I/O 2014 keynote, Android TV was announced, providing a new home for Android on the big screen. Google Play Games will be supported, allowing you to play with your buddies online and compete through leaderboards. You'll also be able to earn achievements in the games you already own. There's also full support for hardware controllers, perfect for those that are looking for a familiar, console-style experience.

Demoed on screen was NBA Jam and Leo's Fortune, but as you can see, there are plenty more titles in the works here. Looks promising no? Could this make Android a proper competitor to gaming consoles?

There's a lot more coming out of the Google I/O 2014 keynote, so be sure to follow along!

My question i with this i i am hoping this can port to my current fire tv or at least port the launcher and play store and app support. Current have xbmc and google play store on fire tv but many apps not compatible

I just want to know two more things about this. Will there be HDMI passthrough built in, and will it support webcams with Hangouts support? If it does both, I will be telling my whole family to get one of the boxes for their livingrooms.
