This Bluetooth chip will give more life to your smartwatch

The world's smallest Bluetooth module could soon find it's way into a smartwatch near you, which could be great news for battery life. The Bluetooth 4.0 low energy chip from TDK (SESUB-PAN-T2541 for the technical crowd) measures just 4.6 mm x 5.6 mm and takes up only around 1/4 of the space of current modules. It also is much more energy efficient, meaning that your smartwatch battery could soon get stretched even further.

The chips have already gone into production so we could see them turning up in new devices before the end of the year.
