The Boom Boom wireless speaker is more than a speaker, will get updates for new functionality

Here's an unusual concept from a new German company known as Binauric. On the face of it we're looking at another Bluetooth speaker – with the pretty awesome name of Boom Boom! – perfect for using with your smartphones and tablets. But underneath it's a very different prospect, since Binauric has included a bunch of hardware including an accelerometer, light sensor and microphone. Because the Boom Boom will acquire more features the longer you own it.

Besides the included regular speaker functionality and things like hands-free calling, Binauric has already planned the first of its future add-ons for the Boom Boom. Using the microphones, you'll be able to record voices and environmental sounds using an app to control it. Pretty nifty.

The prospect of a tech company releasing a product that will openly get better is incredibly refreshing. Beyond the recording feature, nothing else for the future has been made public at this point, but the list of considerations is long. Of course, it also needs to perform well at what it does on the most basic level – ie, sound good when you're playing music – but we're definitely interested by this one. How about you guys?

This is very interesting. I'm not sure the reasoning for an accelerator inside of it, but the additional features I can see some good use for.
