This could have been Motorola's Google smartwatch

Motorola has just said that they will be releasing a new smartwatch before the end of the year, but according to some leaked images, they may have also been previously working on a Google device. Rumors point to LG now being behind the hardware for Google's smartwatch, but from the looks of things, Motorola had gone pretty far in creating a prototype device.

As seen in the images here, the device looks pretty standard. We can see a silicone band that looks to be removable, but it's packing a secret USB connection inside that would most likely be used for sync and charging. There are some buttons located on the top of the face as well as a capacitive button on the face itself. The display shows off some developer functions but not much aside from that.

It's unclear if Motorola is going forward with a similar design for their own watch or if this has been scrapped totally. In any case, we should see offerings from both Google and Motorola sometime this year.

Although I would prefer a normal clasp, I have to say that's not a bad way to build in the charger.

Looks very interesting, if its compatible with BB10 I may pick one up when released.

Standard watch bands please! Wireless charging and sync. No points of entry for water. Let me know when I can buy it :-)
