Galaxy Gear 2 may feature a flexible display, more fashionable design

Samsung's Galaxy Gear is one of the most well know smartwatches and we could soon be seeing a successor, less than a year after the original device launched.

With rumors now pointing to a March or April release, the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is said to have a totally different look as well as redesigned hardware. It's rumored that the next incarnation will be more "fashionable" than the original Galaxy Gear, though we've yet to see anything solid on that front. The Gear 2 may also be sporting a flexible OLED display making for a great looking curved device.

We've seen some good things in the e-ink displays of the Sonostar and Archos devices, so moving toward even higher-spec curved screens could be interesting. We've also heard that LG may be working toward the same goal for Apple, so it will be interesting to see just how many watches we see with flexible displays.

But if it still only works with select Samsung phones it will still be useless for many of us and they will be limiting it's impact.

Can't help but notice that the phone in the picture appears to be a nexus 5... I understand how "we" want it to be open to more phones but Samsung really wants to lock you into their ecosystem. Phone, watch, tablet, TV, dvd, computer, surround sound, fridge, washer, dryer etc...

The funny thing about that is someone already found a way to make it work with the Nexus 5.

I'm sure the next version will work with all android phones. Pictures I've seen of the curved display look good. I still don't want to push a button to turn the screen on
