Google hints at smartwatch during earnings call

By Adam Zeis on 31 Jan 2014 09:08 am

During yesterdays earnings call, Google didn't dive too much into what's to come down the road as far as wearables go. They talked on the overall numbers including Nest and Motorola, but as far as future projects go, everyone was pretty hush hush. That is with the exception of Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora.

Arora talked on the Nexus line and Nexus 5 but also hinted that more wearables could be on the horizon very soon.

“As you know from the Nest acquisition, Glass and wearables, we’re continuing to innovate”

Google did acquire WIMM Labs last year who previously made their own Android-powered smartwatch, so it's safe to say that even if we haven't heard about it yet, Google should be hard at work on some type of smartwatch. Some rumors say we could see a watch from Google in just a few months, but we've yet to see any solid proof.

I'm so looking forward to their entry into the market. Google Now is so close to great. I imagine they could do great things putting that front and center on a watch. (hopefully with a little more thought than just putting the same type of card form the phone on there)

Google and innovate together...Now that's something you don't see everyday. Anyway, still looking forward for what Google is "innovating" !
