GoPro may be expanding its hardware product lineup beyond its well-known action cameras to include drones. A new report claims that the company will begin selling multi-rotor helicopters with high-definition cameras sometime in late 2015.

The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources, claims that the drones will be priced between $500 and $1,000. A spokesperson for GoPro would not confirm the report, but did say that the company had recently joined the Small UAV Coalition, a drone advocacy group, "to study the policy implications and to protect the rights of our users."

Many drones already use GoPro cameras, but if this report is accurate it sounds like the company wants to compete more directly with businesses such as Parrot. Would you buy a GoPro-branded drone?

Makes sense. Everyone else designs their 500.00 and up quadcopters to work with the gopro line of cameras. They have to partner up with a company that can produce quality quadcopters
