Here's how to set up and get started with the Hue Tap

The Philips Hue Tap – that supposedly went on sale, yet doesn't seem on sale anywhere right now – is the first official non-smartphone or tablet method of interacting with your connected light bulb set up. While there's not likely too many folks with one in hand right now, Philips has at least gone ahead and produced the above video to walk you through setting it up.

The innovative switch that powers itself through the motion of being pressed is pretty simplistic and so long as you've got the latest version of the Hue app for Android and iOS, pairing it with your existing system looks to be a trouble free affair. After that you're free to map the buttons to your favorite scenes.

Personally, I like the idea of the Tap. When it eventually hits the market here in the UK (and my own Hue bulbs have also arrived) I'll definitely be getting one. It's going to be much easier hitting that in the middle of the night than opening up the Hue app, and when my forthcoming child is old enough I think it's going to be a great way for it to interact with the bulbs without having to get hold of daddy's phone!

If you're lucky enough to have snagged a Hue Tap already, or if you're waiting on getting one, hit us up with your thoughts in the comments below!
