Jawbone has announced on the official blog that a new firmware update has been pushed out to the UP24. The highlight of this release is the improved battery life — the UP24 can now last for up to 14 days. That's quite the achievement through software engineering. Since the company is all about collecting statistics and presenting them to consumers, it makes sense for Jawbone to want owners of the UP24 to wear it constantly.

Deploying next-generation algorithms, the software team have managed to more efficiently decipher signals from the UP24 band, which is then used to optimize hardware operation. We're sure many owners will be pleased with the end result, not having to recharge their fitness band for a further 7 days. With all the latest wearable tech being released today packing advanced functionality, one has to look at just how long these devices last on a single charge.

Well that will be interesting. Of course my charger is at home, and my UP24 is here with me at work. Guess I'll check out the update tomorrow.
