Jeff Goldblum shows how the GE Link smart bulb can turn anyone into a celebrity

A few months ago, GE announced plans to sell a new series of smart light bulbs, the GE Link. that can be controlled by the Wink hub and smartphone app. Now that the company is actually selling the GE Link bulbs, it has also started its marketing campaign, and it will apparently be very weird indeed

In a new two minute video posted on YouTube, Jurassic Park and Independence Day leading man Jeff Goldblum ditches his smart scientist guise to play "Terry Quattro: Famous Person", who is apparently a cross between Wayne Newton and Hugh Hefner by his hairstyle and clothes. The power of the GE Link bulb offers such great lighting that "Terry" can keep his status of a super cool celebrity, even when he's at his hot tub or having a martial arts match.

It's not just for famous people. The ad seems to show that ordinary folks can be turned into a celebrity just by turning on the GE Link bulb. Or at least, a famous person that looks like Jeff Goldblum-"Terry Quattro".

While the GE Link and how it works with the Wink hub and app are shown off in the demo, we do have to wonder if the oddness of this ad overwhelms the product it is trying to promote. What do you think of the video?
