LG shows off their Android Wear GWatch

By Adam Zeis on 24 Mar 2014 10:00 am

The first image we saw of LG's GWatch wasn't really the greatest (or most revealing). However they have just posted up a new, much clearer image on Twitter showing off a bit more of the goods.

We still don't know any of the big details — pricing, specs, availability — but we do get to see a bit more of the design than we had earlier. Right now the GWatch and the Moto 360 are the two big Android Wear devices that everyone is buzzing about, but we'll undoubtedly see more in the coming weeks as we get closer to an official launch.

What do you think of the GWatch design? Sound off in the comments!

Depends... Square form factor makes more sense for info display.
Also for bigger arms/wrists this makes more sense.
Depends on price, availability and performance... I like it!

I wear a lot of square / rectangular faced analog watches during my day to day life so this design actually appeals to me over the rounded Moto360 design. I think there are three factors that will make or break the watch for me. First, I'm hoping the build quality feels solid on the body of the watch. Second, I hope the straps are interchangeable so I can put a metal band on it. I'm a metal band guy, so a rubberized strap isn't going to do it for me. Third, the pricing needs to come in much lower than what is obviously premium build quality from the Moto360.

If LG can hit on all three of these points, I'm looking at my next smartwatch. If they can't, I'll pony up the extra money and go with the Moto360.

If they have comparable specs (water resistance, batt. life, software..) I would seriously consider this one. But it would have to be a lot cheaper than that very sexy moto 360.

I like how clean and minimal it looks compared to other rectangular devices but the space to the edges around the screen is my main gripe. I have no problem with the rectangular form factor.

I'm with you. The G Watch definitely catches my eye more than the Moto360. I just hope they offer some options such as standard size changeable watch bands and optimize the build quality / price balance.

I already have a square smartwatch. My Pebble satisfies that (and I was never a fan of swuare watches), so I'm definitely looking forward to the Moto 360. That's just me.

I'm really intrigued by the LG G Watch. I love my pebble, so the square design isn't a problem for me. I also agree that the square design makes more sense for an info display.

Really hoping the price point is realistic and not insane like $300-$400. If it was $199 or lower, I'd more than likely pick one up, granted the specs and functionality are all on point.

I'm ready for the specs please!
