Quirky and Uber team up to bring the Aros Smart Window to New Yorkers

During the next three weekends (May 30, June 7 & June 14) Uber users in NYC will see an option to buy a new Aros air-conditioner, a product of Quirky. The $300 "smart" AC unit was developed in partnership with GE and can be all yours — delivered free via ice truck.

When logging in, user will see the "UberCool" promo code along with details on how to get an Aros unit. When purchased, users will see a snowflake on the map representing the delivery truck.

The 8000 BTU Aros Smart Window can be controlled from anywhere using the Wink app on a smartphone. The unit works much like a Nest in that it monitors your habits and better works to control your home temperature while saving you money. Quirky hopes that the promo will help make affordable AC less of a hassle for New Yorkers. Of course you can always just head to Quirky's site and pick up an Aros regardless of where you live.

Thanks Phil

Nice site they got there. Makes it very appealing. The how much you spent on AC, the learning curve it has to adjust itself to your needs and the gps option to let it know when to turn on and off. All cool stuff.

Having a smart ac makes sense, it can save you a lot of money. I don't like wall units, otherwise I probably would get one. Hopefully they will make a portable unit in the future. I know portable isn't as energy efficient, but I just hate having a huge bulge out of the window.
