SmartEyeglass, Sony's augmented reality glasses, now available in 10 countries for $840

Sony's SmartEyeglass is officially available in 10 countries around the world, priced at $840. Sony SmartEyeglass is their take on a Google Glass type product, which changes the way you interact with your surroundings is now available for purchase. The device will connect to compatible smartphones, allowing text to be rendered, and symbols and images to be shown in your field of view. Back in February we saw pre-orders for the device begin for developers and enterprise customers.

SmartEyeglass will be available for developer purchase in the following countries:

  • United States
  • UK
  • Germany
  • Japan

In addition to the countries above, Sony will be selling to business customers only in the following countries:

  • Belgium (FR)
  • Belgium (NL)
  • France
  • Spain
  • Netherlands
  • Italy
  • Sweden

If you have an extra $840 sitting around that you would like to use to try out the SmartEyeglass, you can now do so. Sony claims to be accelerating marketing and production of this device to commercialize it in 2016.

I'm not sold on the extra piece that has to be connected for the controls.  I much prefer the way Google Glass does it and you control thing by swiping on the glasses themselves.
