Sonos update adds support for multiple music accounts

By Simon Sage on 4 Nov 2014 09:46 am

Sonos has announced a beta update for Android users enjoying their connected speaker system. Though the update won't roll out in full until later this year, those that are interested can log onto multiple streaming music service accounts and try out equalizer improvements for the Playbar. The 5.2 update also allows playback control from the lock screen, and expanded search which includes locally-stored tracks.

Sonos has been rolling out some great updates within recent memory, including one that removes the need for a proprietary hardware hub to connect music in your home, and down the line, we can expect a Sonos app for Android Wear. Head over to the Sonos Beta Access page to try out the newest features coming to the Android app.

How many of you guys have a Sonos system? Is the convenience worth the price?

Just bought another Play5 today. That's my 7th piece! I use it every day as I have a home office and play a local radio station in most rooms so when I leave my office I still hear it wherever I go. On weekends, it plays throughout the house and I also have a Play Amp with speakers wired to the outside gazebo for the hot tub. The Android app works very well on my BlackBerry Passport as well. Still need to get a Playbar and subwoofer next Spring when I hook up my TV room.

I have a complete surround system for my media room as well as office and two bedrooms. I love my sonos. Roomtunes on BB10 devices is the way to go. So much easier to use than the sonos app. I just wish my Android Audible app would play directly to sonos via my Blackberry. The sonos implementation of Audible is weak in comparison to the native app.
