Sony Smartwatch 2 firmware update coming soon with more watch faces and customization options

By Adam Zeis on 4 Mar 2014 10:26 am

If the devices on display at MWC last week are any indication, the Sony Smartwatch 2 may soon be seeing a big firmware update. Current models are running the current OS build of 1.0.B.3.46, however the devices at MWC were running 1.0.B.4.80 — meaning that an update could be on the way very soon.

The updated devices had not only various new customization options, but also new watch faces, a scrollable notifications menu and new on-screen items like weather and a pedometer. The SW2 is due for a good update, so if this holds true it could make for an action-packed update. No official word on this however, so stay tuned!

Looking forward to it. As an aside, the SW2 gave me 3-4 days of battery life while paired to my HTC One but only 1 day while paired to my Droid Maxx. Wondering why.

Well, the more I see this site, the more I think it should have been called pebblegearandiwatchwhenitgetsoutfansandbythewayidontlikethesmartwatch2.com ...

Does anyone know when this is dropping. I own it and I am looking forward to the weather and extra clock faces

The update is now here!!! Woke up this morning to all of the Smartwatch 2 apps on my phone available for update on my phone, so I got a little excited and turned in the Bluetooth to connect my watch and there it was! The only thing is, I don't see any new watch faces... But there are several wallpapers, new icons (at least for weather it seems), the ability to tap twice to awaken (was that there before?)... Going to have to look around some more to see what else is there...
