TAG Heuer is developing a smartwatch. Jean-Claude Biver, the head of the luxury watch-maker, has said that the company has been lining up partnerships for the project. The device has been in the works for months.

According to Reuters:

"We started on the project about four months ago. We have done several partnerships and might also do acquisitions," Biver, head of LVMH watches and TAG Heuer interim chief executive, told journalists at the brand's headquarters at La Chaux-de-Fonds in western Switzerland.

There are no details yet on what exactly the smartwatch will look like, or what it will do. Earlier reports indicated that TAG Heuer would be teaming up with Intel for a device not unlike the Withings Activité fitness watch.

Wow, I'm surprised to see this confirmed.

Please keep reporting on watch manufacturers entering the smartphone arena.

That's not a good idea, this is not their field of expertise. It might cost them more then what it worth perusing it
