BB-8, the super-cute droid from the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens, could be a real robot that you could buy, if a hint from the Sphero company website is any indication.

Sphero, which has sold electronic balls that can roll and be guided by a human with a smartphone app, helped to create the real BB-8 that made its public debut this past weekend at the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, California. According to Fortune. Sphero was one of many companies that got funding from Disney's accelerator program in 2014, which also happens to now own the Star Wars franchise.

According to Fortune, Disney CEO Bob Iger was impressed by Sphero and got the company together with The Force Awakens movie team. The result: an actual working version of BB-8. The Sphero site has posted up a page with a silhouette of the robot, with the words, "This is the droid you're looking for" with a way to type in your email address to receive more updates. Will we be able to get a real BB-8 under the Christmas tree this year? Stay tuned.
