ZTE reportedly plans to launch a smartwatch in 2014

Smartwatches are becoming more and more prominent, and with big-name companies like Samsung having such great success, others are looking to get a piece of the pie as well. The latest rumor comes from ZTE who is reportedly working on smartwatch to be released in Q2 of 2104.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Lu Qianhao of ZTE said the company is working on a new smartwatch that will offer features similar to that of Samsung’s Galaxy Gear. “We are focusing on the mainstream market,” he said.

ZTE plans to unveil their new product at the start of 2014 and it will be available to consumers in Q2. The device is said to be available only in China at first, and will unfortunately only be compatible with ZTE’s own devices.
